All the work had to be flat because the design staff at Chelsea Market has installed glass sandwiches bolted to the walls to hold their rotating art exhibits. This prompted me to work on wonderful textured papers instead of my more usual stretched canvases.
The way that the holders floated off of the walls also suggested some ideas, often related to allowing a glimpse of the brick walls behind. In this case, the wall behind is visible through the openings cut into the paper.
Beyond the Page (1) hung at Chelsea Market from August 3 to September 7, 2008 and has now been framed.
